Muncie, IN –The YMCA of Muncie Vice President of Association Resources, Richard Armstrong, will be retiring in August.
Richard’s YMCA career has span 33 years and included YMCA’s in Teneesee, Texas, Maine and Indiana. Armstrong’s last 22 years have been spent creating a deep impact for the YMCA of Muncie at Camp Crosley YMCA. Under Armstrong’s leadership, Camp Crosley has risen to be an elite summer resident camp serving thousands of kids each summer. Through renovations, developing lead staff, aquiring a neighboring camp and most recently a capital campaign and project to add a state of the art H2Whoa Zone, infirmary and welcome center, Richard has led the way to ensure that Camp Crosley YMCA will be a safe and nurturing envorinment for years to come.
Ball Brother’s Foundation President & COO, Jud Fisher, had this to say about Richard’s tenure at Camp Crosley, “Richard will go down as an inspirational and transformational leader for Camp Crosley. Over two decades ago, he took a wonderful, but struggling summer camp and turned it into an experiential life changing program. Because of Richard, Camp Crosley is in good hands and its future is bright. I will simply miss my friend Richard at the camp’s helm after all these years.”
“Richard has been instrumental in transforming Camp Crosley into one of the premiere YMCA camps in the region if not the country. His vision, drive and extraordinary leadership will be sorely missed. The life changing experience and impact he delivered to our youth over the course of the past 22 years is certainly invaluable. We are grateful for all that Richard has accomplished during his era at Camp Crosley and wish him the best as he moves into the next chapter,” said YMCA CEO, Chad Zaucha.
The YMCA would like to invite you to celebrate Richard’s success within the Y on Monday, August 13th, 2018 at Minnetrista Cultural Center from 11am to 1pm. There will be hor’derves along with remarks at 11:30am.
